Podium 2010

PERFORMERS

The Organizing Committee is thrilled to announce that the Canadian Chamber Choir, under the direction of Dr. Julia Davids, will be one of the featured choirs at Podium 2010 in Saskatoon in May.

The Canadian Chamber Choir is a professional ensemble of Canadian singers, musicians, composers and conductors renowned for its success in promoting and sharing new and existing Canadian choral works. They will open Podium 2010 with a gala concert on Thursday, May 20, 2010 and be the Choir in Residence for the remainder of the weekend.

Conducting Master Class with Dr. Julia Davids

Throughout Podium, Dr. Davids will work with three apprentice conductors during a series of open workshops with the Canadian Chamber Choir. Emerging conductors interested in applying for this prestigious apprenticeship should contact James Hawn at jhawn@shaw.ca for more information. Deadline for applications: December 31, 2009.

On Friday, May 21st, Podium will feature the 2010 National Youth Choir of Canada in concert. Comprised of accomplished young singers from across Canada, the NYC will be conducted by Dr. Victoria Meredith. During two short weeks, these young people will come together to form a choir of professional caliber and vivacious enthusiasm that will have you on your feet and asking for more!

Podium 2010 will close with the Elora Festival Singers, directed by Noel Edison, on Sunday, May 23. Known for their rich, warm sound and clarity of texture, the Elora Festival Singers are one of Canada’s most elite professional chamber choirs and we are thrilled to have them in concert.
