We are thrilled to announce that Doreen Rao will lead a new series of spiritually inspired meditation and movement-based choral workshops for singers, choir directors, and choral teachers. In partnership with Bruce J. Barber II and members of the St. James Cathedral Choir, Doreen and Bruce will be joined by contemplative leaders from diverse spiritual traditions and musical practices. Mindfulness meditation and contemplative instruction will form the basis for this boundary-crossing, spiritually informed series of Chicago weekend workshops. Master Classes and Graduate Credit available. Register for a single weekend workshop or a series of three workshops.

Sing with meeting music in Rome and meet the Holy Father! Choirs can register in categories such as Musica Sacra, Mixed Choirs, Male Choirs, Female Choirs, Musica Sacra Open Category, Musica Profana, Children and Youth Choirs and Gospel and Spiritual.

Choirs that choose to participate to the event without competing may take part to the following activities: EP – Evaluation Performance,  IC – Individual Coaching  and FC – Friendship Concerts . Participating choirs may register to perform in local churches together with other international choirs. The concert should be preferably a cappella or with own instruments. Choirs can also take part in Friendship Concerts only. The Winner in each category will sing in the Grand Prize Competition for the “Musica Sacra a Roma” Grand Prize of 3.000 Euros.

International Oratorio Choir Workshop

Participants will rehearse and perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Requiem Mass in D minor (KV 626), his final composition. The concert will be held in Riva del Garda (Italy) on 17 October 2015 within the context of the 9th International Lago di Garda Music Festival.

15. Budapest International Choir Festival and Competition
March 29 to April 2, 2015, Budapest (Hungary)

Budapest International Choir Festival and Competition is a milestone in the history of choir competitions. In 1988, when it was founded it was not clear that on the basis of this new concept an entire network of events would be born all over the world and become known in the international choral community.

In addition to the competition consultations and other form of professional counselling it is also designed to serve the participants’ development. Joint singing will more and more get a greater emphasis and a brand new element of this event is the possibility to sing along in a certain composition in the Opening Concert or concert especially organised with this purpose. Choirs may register to take part at the Opening Concert performing Mendelssohns Die Erste Walpurgisnacht at the Bartók Béla National Concert Hall. Choirs prepare the piece prior to the competition, at the venue they have the chance to rehearse with Maestro Gábor Hollerung together with all partici-pating choirs. Choirs can take part only at the Opening Concert.  In addition to the well-known categories beside Mixed Choirs, Male Choirs, Female Choirs, Chamber Choirs and Children and Youth Choirs,  choirs will have the possibility to sing up for Musica Sacra, Pop, and Jazz and Gospel competitions as well.

In 2011, the Prague Post hailed the Rhapsody International Music Festival Vienna, Salzburg and Prague as “The summer of young musical brilliance.”  Festival choirs perform individually in three of Europe’s most historical and musical cities as well as in a combined grand finale conducted by select attending choir directors. Past venues have included the landmark St. Stephan’s Cathedral and the Haydn Church in Vienna, St. Andrä Church in Salzburg, and Smetana Hall, Dvorak Hall, and the St. Simon and Jude Church in Prague.  Participants will enjoy workshops with Viennese and Czech choral experts, cultural exchanges, and musical and sightseeing tours in the birthplace of classical music.  New in 2014, Rhapsody! will offer an optional choral competition.  Competing choirs will sing before a panel of international judges with the opportunity to earn monetary and trophy awards.  The best-rated choir at the festival will win a newly-commissioned work in honor of both the choir and the festival.   Come share in this “richly rewarding experience” (Prague Post).

2nd European Choir Games Magdeburg 2015 and Grand Prix of Nations
