Choral Canada (CC) is the National Arts Service Organization for the choral and group singing arts sector and community in Canada. You can read more about Choral Canada here. About the Student Chapter
Student Members of Choral Canada automatically become part of the Choral Canada Student Chapter. Student membership is open to all full-time students or recent graduates (graduated two years or less from membership start date). You can read more about the Student Chapter here.
The Choral Canada Student Chapter (CCSC) exists to:
- Cultivate and promote the work of students studying group singing in Canada by exhibiting their research, initiatives, performances, and compositions
- Provide opportunities for the advancement and growth of students studying group singing in Canada
- Facilitate communication amongst students studying group singing across Canada
About the Student Chapter Committee
The CCSC Committee will exist to support the goals and projects of the Student Chapter (SC) as well as support the SC Branches. SC Branches are organized and led by students and a Branch Advisor (academic director/professor) at a post-secondary institution. They set their own goals and activities.
Working closely with the Choral Canada staff, the CCSC is responsible for:
- Membership and Branches cultivation and retention
- Developing and managing SC programs and services
- Communicating with the national SC membership and SC Branches
- Bringing the voice of the members’ respective regions – and their respective places of learning - to the committee and, consequently, to the national association and its membership.
Position for Executive Committee
Choral Canada is seeking one (1) individual to join the CCSC Executive Committee as the “Anacrusis Editorial Board Representative”. Anacrusis is Choral Canada’s choral journal publication.
This individual is responsible for:
- Setting timeline and collecting column content from SC members and Branches
- Writing a column in an issue of Anacrusis if no content from SC members is available
- Encouraging SC members to submit to Anacrusis
- Bringing ideas/thoughts from SC Committee to Anacrusis Committee and vice versa

The working language of the CCSC is English.
Choral Canada’s Commitment
Choral Canada is committed to listening to the needs of all CCSC members and striving to create a committee environment where all members feel welcomed, included, and supported.
Term & Time Commitment
- 2 year terms, renewable 2 times to a maximum of 6 years (3 terms)
- Monthly meetings, each 1 - 1.5 hours
- Time spent on position responsibilities
Remuneration
Serving on the Student Chapter Committee is a volunteer position without any remuneration. You will be provided with administrative support from the Choral Canada staff and reference letters, if requested.

Please provide a short paragraph describing why you would like to be on the CCSC Executive Committee, your student status (eg. full time student studying music education at UBC), and include any applicable experience and/or skillset(s) you would like to share.

Selection
The individual for this position is selected by the CCSC Executive Committee Co-Chairs. The decision is based upon the applicant’s expression of interest and the qualifications outlined above. All individuals who express interest in the positions will be contacted directly regarding the outcome of the process.
